LAYING ON OF HANDS

:  kathistemi -- to appoint a person for a ministry.

       cheirotoneo -- to stretch forth the hands; to appoint (Greek voting)

Note: Ordination was a setting apart or recognition of those who were already raised up and qualified by the Holy Spirit and had already given evidence of this in their life and service.

Scripture Reference:

1.           Acts 6:6 “The seven were set before the apostles and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.”

2.           Acts 13:3 “And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them (Barnabas & Saul), they sent them away…being sent forth by the Holy Ghost…”

3.           I Timothy 4:14 “Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.”
