WORD OF GOD

 

Key Scriptures:

1.            I Timothy 4:1 “Now the Spirit speaks expressly that in the latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons.”

2.            II Timothy 4:3 “The time will come, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall be turned unto fables.”

3.            Colossians 2:8 “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit after the rudiments of the world and not after Christ.”

I.                    Word of God is Eternal

A.     Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall never pass away.”

B.     I Peter 1:23, 25 “The Word of God liveth and abideth forever. The Word of God endureth forever.”

II.                 Word of God is Inspired

A.     II Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God.”

B.     II Peter 1:20-21 “No prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation.  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

C.     Inspired means God breathed; the very breath of God; God speaking.

III.               Word of God is Complete

A.     Galatians 1:8-9 “There be some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of Christ.  But though we or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel, let him be accursed.”

B.     Revelation 22:18-19 “If any man shall add unto these things or take away from the words of the book of prophecy, God will add plagues and take away his part out of the book of life.”

IV.              Word of God is Living

A.     Ephesians 5:26-27 “That Christ might cleanse and sanctify the church with the washing of water by the word, that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

B.     Ephesians 6:19 “The sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.”

C.     Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick.”

D.     I Peter 1:23 “The word of God liveth.”

V.                 Word of God is Powerful

A.       Powerful

1.      Hebrews 4:12 “Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

2.      Read- Revelation 1:3 “Blessed is he that readeth.”

3.      Hear- Romans 10:17 “Faith cometh by hearing the word of God.”

4.      Memorize- Psalms 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in my heart that I may not sin against God.”

5.      Meditate- Psalms 1:3 “Meditate in the word day and night and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

6.      Study- II Timothy 2:15 “Study to show thyself a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

7.      Speak- Romans 1:16 “Power of God unto salvation.”

8.      Obey- Hebrews 12:2 “For the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross…set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

B.     Conviction

1.      II Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness.”

C.     Born Again

1.    I Peter 1:23 “Being born again by the word of God.”

D.     Sanctification

1.    Ephesians 5:26 “Sanctified by the word.”

Hebrews 10:25 “Exhorting (comfort, encourage, admonish) one another as you see the day approaching.”

By His Word, there is no fear in me.

By His Word, death cannot swallow me.

By His Word, I have prosperity.

By His Word, sickness can’t dwell in me.

By His Word I walk in victory.

By His Word I am set free!
