COVER, COVERING
There is a great
deal said today in Christian circles about “covering” and the need
for every believer to be “covered” by some person or some
organization. A question one often hears is, “Who is your covering?”
What is implied, but not spoken, is that if one is not covered by an
other person or organization, they are in rebellion. It is a blatant
attempt under the guise of being spiritual to control someone else
or to have them under one's authority.
But what does the
Bible have to say about the subject “to cover” or “covering?”
It should be noted
how little the Scripture actually speaks of “cover” or “covering,”
but the few times the word is used, it never
speaks of it in the way it is used today.
