PRAYER: CORPORATE EXAMPLES

 

1.  Acts 1:13-15 “And when they were come in, they went up into an upper

        room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and

        Andrew, Philip, and Thomas,  Bartholomew, and Matthew,

        James the sons of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas

        the brother of James.  These all continued(to persevere

         toward) with one accord(homothumadon=like-minded) in

         prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the

         mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.  (The number of

         names together were about an hundred and twenty.)”

2.   Acts 1:24 “And they(11 apostles)prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which

  knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou

  hast chosen…”

3.   Acts 2:42 “And they continued stedfastly(to persevere toward) in the

  apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and

   in prayers.”

4.  Acts 4:23-24, 31 “And Peter and John being let go, they went to their own

    company, and reported all that the chief priests and

    elders had said unto them.  And being let go, they heard

    that, they lifted up their voice to God with one

    accord (homothumadon=like-minded), and said, Lord,

    thou art God…  And when they had prayed, the place

    where they were assembled together; and they were all

    filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of

    God with boldness.”

5.   Acts 6:4 “But we(12 apostles)will give ourselves continuall (proskartero=to

                     endure; persevere toward)to prayer, and to the ministry of the

                      word.”

6.  Acts 6:6 “The seven whom they set before the apostles: and when they had

prayed, they laid their hands on them.”

7.  Acts 8:14-15 “Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that

       Samaria and received the word of God, they sent unto them

       Peter and John: who, when they were come down, prayed for

       them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:”

8.  Acts 12:5, 12 “Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made

        without ceasing(ektenes=extended; outstretched) of the

        church unto God for him.  And when Peter had considered

        the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John,

        whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered

         together praying.”

9.  Acts 13:3 “And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on

  them, they sent them away.”

10.  Acts 14:23 “And when Paul and Barnabas had ordained them elders in

    every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended

    them to the Lord, on whom they believed.”

11.  Acts 16:25 “And at midnight, Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praise unto

    God:”

12.  Acts 20:36 “And when Paul had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and

                        prayed with them all(elders of Ephesus).

13.  Acts 21:5 “And when we(Paul, Luke, Sopater, Aristarchus, Secundus,

   Gaius, Timotheus, Tychicus and Trophimus. Acts 20:4)had

    accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and

    they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we

    were out of the city: and we kneeled  down on the shore, and

    prayed.”

14.  I Timothy 2:8 “I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy

hands, without wrath and doubting.”

15.  James 5:14 “Is any sick among you?  Let him call for the elders of the

      church: and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in

      the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the

      sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have

      committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”

16.  Jude 20 “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.
