Old Testament:

  1. Exodus 15:16Fear (emah) and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as stone; till thy people pass over, O Lord, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased.”

  2. Exodus 20:20 “And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear (yirah) may be before your faces, that ye sin not.”

  3. Exodus 23:27 “I will send my fear (emah)before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.”

  4. Exodus 20:11 “And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God (yirah) is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake.”

  5. Deuteronomy 6:2 “That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, (yare)to keep all his statues and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.”

Deuteronomy 10:12, 20 “And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, (yare) to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul.   3. Acts 10:1-2 “There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, a devout man, and one that feared God (phobeo) with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.”

  4. Acts 10:35 “But in every nation he that feareth him, (phobeo) and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.”

  5. Acts 19:17 “And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks, also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, (phobos) )and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.”
