“GIFT” WORD STUDY

 

doma = Gift as in Ephesians 4:8 “He led captivity captive and gave gifts unto men.”

 

dosis = A giving, the act of giving as in James 1:17a “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

 

dorea = A free gift, present as in Acts 2:38 “And ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

 

dorema = A free gift, what is given as in James 1:17b “Every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

 

doron = A gift as in Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God:”

 

merismos = Distribution, parting as in Hebrews 2:4 “God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will.”

 

charis = Grace, favor, free gift as in II Corinthians 8:4 “Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.”

 

charisma = Grace, favor, kindness as in:

 

Romans 1:11-12 “For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.”

 

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

 

Romans 11:29 “For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.”

Romans 12:6 “Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;”(Romans 12:1-8)

 

I Corinthians 1:7 “So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

 

I Corinthians 7:7 “For I would that all men were even as I myself.  But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.”
