TURNING THE HEARTS OF FATHERS

 

Introduction: In the Old Testament, the parents and grandparents laid hands on their children and grand children and blessed them!  They were spiritual fathers and mentors!

1.      Deuteronomy 4:9 “Remember the things your eyes have seen of the Lord and

                                      don’t let them depart from your heart!”

 

2.      Deuteronomy 6:6-7 “Help your children and grandchildren by your words and

      example to know God’s thoughts and ways!

 

3.      Deuteronomy 6:8-9 “Let the words of the Lord be in your heart!” 

                                         a.  “Teach them will all your might to your children &

          grandchildren,”

b.      “By talking to them when you sit in your house,”

c.       “When you walk in the way,”

d.      “When you lie down and”

e.       “When you rise up!”

f.       “Bind God’s word as a sign upon your hand, as frontlets between your eyes and write them upon the posts of your house and your gates!”

 

4.      Psalms 78:3-5 “Don’t hide your faith from your children!”

a.      “Show them the praises of the Lord, His strength and His wonderful works!”

 

5.      Psalms 127:3f “Your children and grandchildren are an inheritance of the Lord

         and His gift to you!”

 

6.      Isaiah 44:3 “God will pour out His Spirit and blessings on your children and

    grand children!”

 

7.      Isaiah 59:21 “God’s Spirit and His words will never leave you, your children or

     grand children!”

 

8.      Jeremiah 31:16-17 “Do not weep any longer, for God will reward you, and your 

                                        children will come back to you and there is hope for your

    future!”

 

9.      Malachi 4:5-6 “In the last days, described as the great and dreadful day of the

        Lord, God will turn the heart of the fathers to the children and

        the heart of the children to their fathers!

Conclusion: Joshua 24:15 “Choose ye this day whom ye will serve.  But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord!”
