1.     Genesis 19:24 “Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire (esh) from the Lord out of heaven;”

2.     Genesis 22:6-7 “And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire (esh) in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.  And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son.  And he said, Behold the fire (esh) and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?  And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burn offering: so they went both of them together.”

3.     Exodus 3:2 “And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire (esh) out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.”

4.     Exodus 9:23-24 “And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and the fire (esh) ran along upon the ground; and the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt.  So there was hail, and fire (esh) mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.”

5.     Exodus 12:8-11 “And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire (esh), and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.  Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire (esh); his head and his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.  And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning, ye shall burn with fire (esh).  And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in hast: it is the Lord’s Passover.”

6.     Exodus 13:21-22 “And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire (esh), to give them light; to go by day and night: He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire (esh) by night, from before the people.”

7.     Exodus 19:18 “And Mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire (esh): and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.”

8.     Exodus 24:17 “And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire (esh) on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.”

9.     Exodus 32:20, 24 “And he (Moses) took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire (esh), and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it…And I Aaron) said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off.  So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire (esh), and there came out this calf.”

10.                          Exodus 35:3 “Ye shall kindle no fire (esh) throughout your habitations upon the Sabbath day.”

11.                          Exodus 40:38 “And the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and the fire (esh) was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.”

12.                          Leviticus 1:7 “And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire (ur) upon the altar, and lay the wood in order upon the fire (esh):”

13.                          Leviticus 6:12-13 “And the fire (esh) upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn the wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings.  The fire (esh) shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.”

14.                          Leviticus 9:24 “And there came a fire (esh) out from before the Lord, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.”

15.                          Leviticus 10:1-3; Numbers 3:4 “And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire (esh) therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire (esh) before the Lord, which he commanded them not.  And there went out fire (esh) from the Lord, and devoured them, and they died before the Lord.  Then Moses said unto Aaron, this is it that the Lord spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified.  And Aaron held his peace.  And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean; And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statues which the Lord hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.”

16.                          Numbers 11:1-3 “And when the people complained, it displeased the Lord: and the Lord heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire (esh) of the Lord burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp. And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the Lord, the fire (esh) was quenched.  And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire (esh) of the Lord burnt among them.”

17.                          Numbers 16:29-33, 35, 40; Numbers 26:10, 61 “(Moses) If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the Lord hath not sent me.  But if the Lord make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the Lord.  And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them:  And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and they perished from among the congregation.  And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.  And there came out a fire (esh) from the Lord, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense…To be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the Lord; and he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the Lord said to him by the hand of Moses.”

18.                          Deuteronomy 4:11-12, 15, 33, 36 “And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire (esh) unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.  And the Lord spake unto you out of the midst of the fire (esh): ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice.  Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the Lord spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire (esh): For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire (esh), even a jealous God.  Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire (esh), as thou hast heard, and live?  Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire (esh); and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire (esh).

19.                          Deuteronomy 5:4-5, 22-26 “The Lord talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire (esh), (I stood between the Lord and you at that time, to shew you the word of the Lord: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire (esh), and went not up into the mount;).  These words the Lord spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire (esh), of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more.  And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.  And it came to pass when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness,(for the mountain did burn with fire (esh),) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;  And ye said, Behold, the Lord our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire (esh): we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and he liveth.  Now therefore, why should we die?  For this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any more, then we shall die.  For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire (esh), as we have and lived?  Go thou near, and hear all that the Lord our God shall say: and speak thou unto us all that the Lord our God shall speak unto thee; and we will hear it, and do it.”

20.                          Deuteronomy 9:3, 10, 15, 21 “Understand therefore this day, that the Lord thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire (esh) he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the Lord hath said unto thee.  And the Lord delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the Lord spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire (esh) in the day of the assembly.  So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire (esh): and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.  And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire (esh), and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.”

21.                          Deuteronomy 32:22 “For a fire (esh) is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her

increase, and set on fire (lahat) the foundations of the mountains.”

22.                          Joshua 7:15, 25 “And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire (esh), he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the Lord, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.  And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us?  The Lord shall trouble thee this day.  And all Israel stoned him (Achan, family and possessions) with stones, and burned them with fire (esh), after they had stoned them with stones.”

23.                          Judges 6:21 “Then the angel of the Lord put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire (esh) out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes.  Then the angel of the Lord departed out of his (Gideon) sight.”

24.                          II Samuel 22:9, 13 “There went up a smoke out of his (Lord, God) nostrils, and fire (esh) out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.  Through the brightness before him were coals of fire (esh) kindled.”

25.                          I Kings 18:24-25, 38 “And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord: and the God that answereth by fire (esh), let him be God.  And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.  And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire (esh) under.  Then the fire (esh) of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.”

26.                          I Kings 19:12 “And after the earthquake a fire (esh); but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire (esh) a still small voice.”

27.                          II Kings 1:10, 12, 13-14 “And Elijah answered and said unto the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty.  And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.  And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire (esh) come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty.  And the fire (esh) of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.  And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty.  And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.  Behold, there came fire (esh) down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties; therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight.”

28.                          I Chronicles 21:26 “And David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the Lord; and he answered him from heaven by fire (esh) upon the altar of burnt offering.”

29.                          II Chronicles 7:1, 3 “Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire (esh) came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the house.  And the priests could not enter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord’s house.  And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire (esh) came down, and the glory of the Lord upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshiped, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good for his mercy endureth forever.”

30.                          Nehemiah 9:12, 19 “Moreover thou leddest them in the day by a cloudy pillar; and in the night by a pillar of fire (esh), to give them light in the way wherein they should go.  Yet thou in thy manifold mercies forsookest them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire (esh) by night, to shew them light, and the way wherein they should go.”

31.                          Job 1:16 “While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire (esh) of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.”

32.                          Job 22:20 “Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire (esh) consumeth.”

33.                          Job 31:12 “For it is a fire (esh) that consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase.”

34.                          Psalms 11:6 “Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire (esh) and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.”

35.                          Psalms 18:8, 12-13 “There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire (esh) out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindles by it.  At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.  The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire (esh).

36.                          Psalms 21:9 “Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the Lord shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire (esh) shall devour them.”

37.                          Psalms 29:7The voice of the Lord divideth the flames of fire (esh).

38.                          Psalms 46:9 “He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire (esh).”

39.                          Psalms 50:3 “Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire (esh) shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.”

40.                          Psalms 66:12 “Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire (esh) and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.”

41.                          Psalms 78:14 “In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire (esh).”

42.                          Psalms 79:5 “How long, Lord?  Wilt thou be angry forever?  Shall thy jealousy burn like fire (esh)?”

54.                          Proverbs 26:20-21 “Where no wood is, there the fire (esh) goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.  As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire (esh); so is a contentious man to kindle strife.”

55.                          Proverbs 30:16 “The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire (esh) that saith not, It is enough.”

56.                          Song of Solomon 8:6 “Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire (esh), which hath a most vehement flame.”

57.                          Isaiah 4:5 “And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire (esh) by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defense.”

58.                          Isaiah 10:17 “And the light of Israel shall be foer a fire (esh), and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day.”

59.                          Isaiah 24:15 “Wherefore glorify ye the Lord in the fires (ur), even the name of the Lord God of Israel in the isles of the sea.”

60.                          Isaiah 30:14 “And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters’ vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire (esh) from the hearth, or to take withal out of the pit.”

61.                          Isaiah 30:30 “And the Lord shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire (esh).  With scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.”

62.                          Isaiah 31:9 “And he shall pass over to his stronghold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the Lord, whose fire (ur) is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.”

63.                          Isaiah 42:25 “Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire (lahat) round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.”

64.                          Isaiah 43:2 “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire (esh), thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”

65.                          Isaiah 47:13-14 “Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels.  Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.  Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire (esh) shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves for the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire (ur) to sit before it.”

66.                          Isaiah 50:11 “Behold, all ye that kindle a fire (esh), that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire (esh), and in the sparks that ye have kindled.  This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.”

67.                          Isaiah 65:5 “Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou.  These are a smoke in my nose, a fire (esh) that burneth all the day.”

68.                          Isaiah 66:15-16, 24 “For, behold, the Lord will come with fire (esh), and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire (esh).  For by fire (esh) and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain of the Lord shall be many.  And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire (esh) be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.”

69.                          Jeremiah 4:4 “Circumcise yourselves to the Lord, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire (esh), and burn that none can quench it, because the evil of your doings.”

70.                          Jeremiah 5:14 “Wherefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire (esh), and this people wood, and it shall devour them.”

71.                          Jeremiah 6:1 “O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire (maseth) in Bethhaccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction.”

72.                          Jeremiah 6:29-30 “The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire (eshsah); the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away.  Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the Lord hath rejected them.”

73.                          Jeremiah 17:4 “And thou, even thyself, shalt discontinue from thine heritage that I gave thee; and I will cause thee to serve thine enemies in the land which thou knowest not; for ye have kindled a fire (esh) in mine anger, which shall burn forever.”

74.                          Jeremiah 20:9 “Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name.  But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire (esh) shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.”

75.                          Jeremiah 21:12 “O house of David, thus saith the Lord; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my forth go out like fire (esh), because of the evil of your doings.”

76.                          Jeremiah 23:29 “Is not my word like as a fire (esh)?  Saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?”

77.                          Lamentations 2:-4 “He hath cut off in his fierce anger all the horn of Israel: he hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy, and he burned against Jacob like a flaming fire (esh), which devoureth round about.  He hath bent his bow like an enemy: he stood with his right hand as an adversary, and slew all that were pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion: he poured out his fury like fire (esh).”

78.                          Lamentations 4:11 “The Lord hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire (esh) in Zion, and it hath devoured the foundations thereof.”

79.                          Ezekiel 1:4 “And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire (esh) infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire (esh).”

80.                          Ezekiel 1:13, 27 “As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire (esh), and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire (esh) was bright, and out of the fire (esh) went forth lightning.  And I say as the color of amber, as the appearance of fire (esh) round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins, even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire (esh), and it had brightness round about.”

81.                          Ezekiel 5:4 “Then take of them again, and cast them into the midst of the fire (esh), and burn them in the fire (esh) for thereof shall a fire (esh) come forth into all the house of Israel.”

82.                          Ezekiel 8:2 “Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire (esh) from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire (esh); and from his loins downward, fire (esh):as the appearance of brightness, as the color of amber.”

83.                          Ezekiel 19:14 “And fire (esh) is gone out of a rod of her branches, which hath devoured her fruit, so that she hath no strong rod to be a scepter to rule.  This is a lamentation, and shall be for a lamentation.”

84.                          Ezekiel 20:47 “And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the Lord God; Behold, I will kindle a fire (esh) in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.”

85.                          Ezekiel 21:31-32 “And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow against thee in the fire (esh) of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, and skillful to destroy.  Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire (esh); thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shall be no more remembered: for I the Lord have spoken it.”

86.                          Ezekiel 22:21, 31 “Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire (esh) of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof.  Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God.”

87.                          Ezekiel 36:5 “Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Surely in the fire (esh) of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea, which have appointed my joy of all their heart, with the despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey.”

88.                          Ezekiel 38:19, 22-23 “For in my jealousy and in the fire (esh) of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire (esh), and brimstone.  Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the Lord.”

89.                          Ezekiel 39:6, 9-10 “And I will send a fire (esh) on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the Isles: and they shall know that I am the Lord.  And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, and bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire (esh) seven years:  So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire (esh); and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them saith the Lord God.”
