SPECIAL DAYS AND FOODS

Matthew 5:17-20

17 “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets, I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.”

18 “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”

19 “Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

20 “For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.”

Mark 2:23-28

23 “And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the Sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.”

24 “And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the Sabbath day that which is not lawful?”

25 “And he said unto them, Have never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungered, he and they that were with him?”

26 “How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shew bread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?”

27 “And he said unto them, The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath:”

28 “Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath.”

Mark 7:18-23

18 “And Jesus said unto them, Are ye so without understanding also?  Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;”

19 “Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?”

20 “And he said, That which cometh out of man, that defileth the man.”

21 “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,”

22 “Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:”

23 “All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”

John 9:16

16 “Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the Sabbath day.  Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles?  And there was a division among them.”

Acts 15:1-33

1 “And certain men which came down from Judea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.”

2 “When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.”

3 “And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.”

4 “And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.”

5 “But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which  believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.”

6 “And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.”

7 “And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose, and said unto them, Men and  brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.”

8 “And God, which knoweth the hearts bare them witness, giving them the Holy Spirit, even as he did unto us;”

9 “And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.”

10 “Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?”

11 “But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.”

12 “Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.”

13 “And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:”

14 “Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.”

15 “And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,”

16 “After this I will return and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:”

17 “That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.”

18 “Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.”

19 “Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:”

20 “But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.”

21 “For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath day.”

22 “Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:”

23 “And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia.”

24 “For as much as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:”

25 “It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,”

26 “Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

27 “We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.”

28 “For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;”

29 “That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well.  Fare ye well.”

30 “So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch:  and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:”

31 “Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.”

32 “And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed.”

33 “And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.”

Romans 7:1-25

1 “Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?”

2 “For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.”

3 “So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, if her husband be dead, she is free from the law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.”

4. “Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.”

5 “For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.”

6 “But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.”

7 “What shall we say then?  Is the law sin?  God forbid.  Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.”

8 “But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence.  For without the law sins was dead.”

9 “For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.”

10 “And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.”

11 “For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.”

12 “Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.”

13 “Was then that which is good made death unto me?  God forbid.  But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.”

14 “For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.”

15 “For that which I do I allow not:for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.”

16 “If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.”

17 “Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.”

18 “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.”

19. “For the good that I would do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.”

20 “Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.”

21 “I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.”

22 “For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:”

23 “But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.”

24 “O wretched man that I am!  Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?”

25 “I thank god through Jesus Christ our Lord.  So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.”

Romans 8:1-18

1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

2 “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”

3 “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:”

4 “That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

5 “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh;but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.”

6 “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

7 “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.”

8 “So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”

9 “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.  Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”

10 “And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.”

11 “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”

12 “Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh,”

13 “For if ye live after the flesh ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.”

14 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

15 “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”

16 “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:”

17 “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”

18 “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”

Romans 14:1-4

1 “Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.”

2 “For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.”

3 “Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.”

4 “Who art thou that judgest another man's servant?  To his own master he standeth or falleth.  Yea, he shall be holden up:for God is able to make him stand.”

Romans 14:5-6

5 “One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike.  Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.”

6 “He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it.  He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.”

Romans 14:10-12

10 “But why dost thou judge thy brother?  Or why dost thou set at naught thy brother?  For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.”

11 “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”

12 “So then everyone of us shall give an account of himself to God.”

Romans 14:14-17

14 “I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.”

15 “But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitable. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.”

16 “Let not then your good be evil spoken of:”

17 “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 14:18-23

18 “For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable  to God, and approved of men.”

19 “Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and the things wherewith one may edify another.”

20 “For meat destroy not the work of God.  All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offense.”

21 “It is good neither to eat flesh, not to drink wine, nor anything whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.”

22 “Hast thou faith? Have it to thyself before God.  Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.”

23 “And he that doubteth is condemned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.”

I Corinthians 8:1-13

1 “Now as to touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge.  Knowledge puffeth up, but love edifieth.”

2 “And if any man think that he knoweth anything, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.”

3 “But if any man love God, the same is known of him.”

4 “As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.”

5 “For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)”

6 “But to us there is but one God and Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.”

7 “Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idols and conscience being weak is defiled.”

8 “But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we worse.”

9 “But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to them that are weak.”

10 “For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;”

11 “And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?”

12 “But when ye sin so against the brethren, and would their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.”

13 “Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, least I make my brother to offend.”

I Corinthians 9:19-23

19 “For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.”

20 “And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;”

21 “To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to
God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.”

22 “To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.”

16 “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

17 “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin?  God forbid.”

18 “For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.”

19 “For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.”

20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
