TENT MAKING-WORK

SCRIPTURAL  EXAMPLES:

Acts 18:1-3 “After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth; and found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome and came unto them.  And because he was of the same craft (homotechnos = a fellow artificer, of the same craft), he abode with them, and wrought (ergazomai = to toil, occupation, labor, trade, work): for by their occupation (techne = art, trace, skill, craft, occupation) they were tentmakers (skenopoios = manufacturer of tents, tentmaker; from skene = a tent, cloth, hut, habitation, tabernacle).”

I Corinthians 4:11-12 “Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling place; and labor (kopiao = to feel fatigue, to work hard, labor, toil, be wearied; from kopos = toil, pain, labor, weariness), working (ergazomai = to toil, labor, trade, occupation) with our own hands (idios = one’s own, private or separate, own business; cheir = a means or instrument, hand):”

Ephesians 4:28 “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor (kopiao = to feel fatigue, to work hard, labor, toil, be wearied), working (ergazomai = to toil, a task, occupation, trade, work) with his hands (cheir = hand, Hebraism a means or instrument) the thing which is good (agathos = good, well, beneficial; kalos = beautiful, good, valuable, worthy), that he may have to give (metadidomi = to give over, share, give, impart) to him that needeth (echo = need, to hold possession, lack).”

I Thessalonians 4:9-11 “But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.  And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more; and that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business (prasso = do, perform repeatedly or habitually, execute, accomplish; idios = pertaining to self, one’s own, private or separate, apart), and to work (ergazomai = to toil, task, occupation, engaged in, labor, trade) with your own hands (humon = concerning you, yourself; idios = pertaining to self, one’s own, private, separate; cheir = hand, Hebraism a means or instrument), as we have commanded (paraggello = to transmit a message, to enjoin, charge, command, declare) you;”
