CHRIST DWELLS IN YOU

In the Old Testament the Scripture teaches that God dwelt in a Holy Place, but in the New Testament the Word teaches that He now dwells in a Holy People.  The Old Testament emphasized a special place but the New Testament emphasized a special people.  Thus the dwelling place of God today is not a Building (Sanctuary, Edifice, Temple, Shrine, Cathedral, Church House nor a house/residence) but a body, His Body for whom He died and brought redemption through His blood.

OLD TESTAMENT

Psalm 9:11 “Sing praises to the Lord, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings.”

Psalm 27:4 “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.”

Psalm 80:1 “Give ear, O shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.”

Psalm 84:4 “Blessed are they that dwell in thy house; they will be still praising thee.  Selah.”

Isaiah 37:16 “O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, that art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.”

Isaiah 66:1 “Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me?  And where is the place of my rest?”

NEW TESTAMENT

John 14:16-17 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”

Acts 7:48 -49 “Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as the prophet (Isaiah 66:1), Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me?  Saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?”

Acts 17:24 “God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands.”

Romans 8:9, 11 “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.  Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”

I Corinthians 3:16 “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”

II Corinthians 6:16 “And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?  For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

Ephesians 3:17 “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and ground in love…”

Colossians 1:26-27 “Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY:”

I John 4:12-13, 15-16 “No man hath seen God at any time.  If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.  Hereby know we that we dwell in him and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.  Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.  And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us.  God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.”
