GRAY HEAD

 

Proverbs 20:29 “The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head.”

beauty – hadar magnificence, ornament, splendor, beauty, comeliness, excellency, glorious, glory, goodly, honor, majesty

old men – zaqun old, aged, ancient man, elder

gray head – seybah gray: old age, to be gray (grey, hoary);  headed, hairs, old age

 

HOARY HEAD

 

Leviticus 19:32 “Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honor the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.”

rise up – qum to rise, rise up

before – min minnly minney by reason of, because of; paniym face, because of, presence

hoary head – seybah old age, gray (grey, hoary) hairs (head, -ed)

honor –hadar favor, honor

face of – paniym the face, before, presence

old man – zaqen old, aged, ancient man, elder (-est), man, men

fear – yare to fear, revere, reverence

thy God – ‘Elohiym supreme God, great, mighty

I am the Lord – Yehovah self-Existent or eternal, Jehovah, Lord

 

Proverbs 16:31 “The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.”

hoary head – seybah old age, be gray (grey, hoary) hairs (head, -ed)

crown – ‘atarah crown

glory – tiph’arah tiph’ereth ornament, beauty, comely, glory, majesty, honor

found – matsa to come forth, that is appear or exist, find, present

way of – derek a road, course of life, journey, manner

righteousness – tsedaqah rightness, virtue

 

OLD AGE

seybah – old age, be gray (grey, hoary) hairs (head, -ed)

Genesis 15:15 “And thou (Abram) shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.”

Genesis 25:7-8 “And these are the days of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years. (175)  Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, and old man, full of years; and was gathered to his people.”

Genesis 27:1-2 “And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see.  And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death:”

Genesis 35:29 “And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.”

Deuteronomy 34:7 “And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force (leach freshness, vigor, natural force) abated (nus vanish away, subside, abated, flee away).”

Joshua 13:1 “Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the Lord said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remained yet very much land to be possessed.”

Joshua 23:1-3 “And it came to pass a long time after that the Lord had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old and stricken in age.  And Joshua called for all Israel, and for their elders, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and said unto them, I am old and stricken in age:”

Joshua 24:29-30 “And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died, being an hundred and ten years old (Judges 2:8).  And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathserah, which is in mount Ephraim, on the north side of the hill of Gash.”

Judges 8:32 “And Gideon the son of Joash died in a good old age, and was buried in the sepulcher of Joash his father, in Ophrah of Abiezrites.”

I Samuel 4:15, 18 “Now Eli was ninety and eight years old; and his eyes were dim, that he could not see.  And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy.  And he had judged Israel forty years.”

I Samuel 12:2 “And now, behold, the king walketh before you: and I (Samuel) am old and gray headed, and behold, my sons are with you: and I have walked before you from my childhood unto this day.”

I Kings 11:4 “For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.”

I Kings 15:23 “The rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?  Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.”

I Chronicles 29:27-28 “And the time that he (David) reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.  And he died in a good old age (70 years; David was 30 years old when he began to reign), full of days, riches, and honor: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.”

I Chronicles 23:1 “So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his king over Israel.”

I Chronicles 29:28 “And he (David) died in a good old age, full of days, riches and honor: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.”

II Chronicles 24:15 “But Jehoiada waxed old, and was full of days when he died; and hundred and thirty years old was he when he died.”
