The Authority For Baptism: Jesus Christ

Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded

The Subjects of Baptism: Believers

- Definition
of words baptize and baptism: The English words baptize and baptism are tow
words that are not native to the English language. Therefore, they do not
have any intrinsic meaning of their own. The only rightful meaning they can
have is the one that is derived from the Greek word of which they are the
spelling. The English words baptize and baptism are transliterations not
translations of the Greek words baptizo and baptisma. In the
Greek, these words mean to immerse, to dip under, and completely submerge.
Note: There are Greek words for pour, which are
ballo, katacheo, ekcheo, ekchuno, andepicheo; sprinkle, which are
rhantismos and proschusis; wet, which is brecho; wash, which
are louo, loutron, apolouo.
The Purpose of Baptism: Obedience and Example

Jesus set the example in Matthew 3:15 “Suffer
it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness.”
