I.     APOSTLE: apostello meaning to send away or forth

A.  Luke 4:44 “I must preach the kingdom of God: for therefore am I sent(apostello).”

B.  Acts 3:20, 26 “He shall send(apostello) Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Unto you first God, having raised up his son Jesus, sent(apostello) him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.”

C. I John 4:9, 14 “God sent(apostello) his only begotten son into the world, that we might live through him.  The father sent(apostello) the son to be the Savior of the world.”

D. Hebrews 3:1 “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus:”

 

II. PROPHET: prophetes meaning one who speaks under the inspiration of

    God’s Spirit by proclamation or prediction.

A.  Matthew 13:57 “And they were offended in him.  But Jesus said unto

     them, A prophet(prophetes) is not without honor, save in his own

     country, and in his own house.”

B.  Matthew 14:5 “They counted him as a prophet(prophetes).”

C. Matthew 21:11 “This is Jesus the prophet(prophetes) of Nazareth of Galilee.”

D. Luke 24:19 “Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet(prophetes) mighty in deed and word before God and all the people.”

E.  Revelation 19:10 “The testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy.”

 

III. EVANGELIST: euaggello meaning to tell good news, tidings thoroughly.

A.  Matthew 9:35 “And Jesus want about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and very disease among the people.”

B.  Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed

     me to preach(euaggello) the gospel(euaggelion=good news, tidings) to the

    poor:”

B.  Luke 9:6 “Jesus went through the towns, preaching(euaggello) the

     gospel(euaggelion=good news, tidings).”

C. Luke 20:1 “Jesus preached(euaggello) the gospel(euaggelion=good news,

     tidings).”

 

IV. PASTOR: poimen meaning to tend or shepherd

A.  John 10:11, 14 “I am the good shepherd(poimaine).  I am the good shepherd(poimaine), and know my sheep.”

B.  Hebrews 13:20 “Our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd(poimaine)of the sheep.”

C. I Peter 2:25; 5:4 “For ye were a sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd(poimaine) and Bishop(episkopos=overseer) of your souls.  And when the chief Shepherd(archipoimen)) shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.”

 

V.  TEACHER: didaskalos meaning instructor

A.  Matthew 5:2 “Jesus opened his mouth, and taught(didasko) them.”

B.  Matthew 7:29 “Jesus taught(didasko) them as one having authority.”

C. John 3:2 “We know that thou art a teacher(didaskalos) come from God.”
