Churches Distinctives
All of the New Testament Churches shared many things in common but at the same time had different characteristics as exampled by Jerusalem and Antioch.
JERUSALEM: 1. Primarily a Jewish congregation 2. Several thousand members 3. Met on Solomon’s Porch and from house to house 4. Twelve apostles in residence 5. Elders & deacons 6. Had all things common 7. Daily food distribution 8. Temple in the city 9. Mission initially was primarily to Judea and Samaria
ANTIOCH: 1. Primarily a Gentile congregation 2. Prophets & teachers 3. Two apostles in residence 4. Mission was to the nations 5. Sent out Apostolic teams
