FATHER, MASTER, RABBI
Mathew 23:5-12

called is the Greek word kaleomai meaning to be called.

rabbi – is the Greek word rabboni meaning a great man, teacher.

master – is the Greek word kathegetes meaning a guide, to go before, leader, master, teacher.

father – is the Greek word pater meaning a father, ancestor.

Matthew 4:22 “And they (James and John) immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.”

Note: W. E. Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words, states concerning Paul, “Of one who, as a preacher of the Gospel and a teacher, stands in a father's place, caring for his spiritual children as in I Corinthians 4:15, is not the same as a mere title of honor, which the Lord prohibited in Matthew 23:9.
