BIBLICAL LEADERSHIP

Example of Jesus

  1. Jesus Knew His Purpose: “To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world that I should bear witness unto the truth. Everyone that is of the truth heareth my voice.”” (John 18:37)

  2. Jesus Knew His Mission: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted; to preach deliverance to the captives; and recovering of sight to the blind; to set at liberty them that are bruised. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” (Luke 4:18-19)

  3. Jesus Had Specific Goals: “Behold, I cast out demons, and I do cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected. Nevertheless I must walk to day, and tomorrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.” (Luke 1332-33)

  4. Jesus Was Focused On People: “But when Jesus saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.” (Matthew 9:36)

  5. Jesus Equipped Others For Leadership: “Follow me and I will make you to become…”(Mark 1:17) “And Jesus ordained twelve, that they should be with him and that He might send them forth to preach.” (Mark 3:14)

  6. Jesus Knew Where He Came From and Where He Was Going: “Jesus answered and said unto them, though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go…” (John 8:14)

  7. Jesus Was Moved To Minister By Compassion: “And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him.” (Mark 1:41)

  8. Jesus Knew When His Ministry Would Be Finished: “It is finished!” (John 19:30)

  9. Jesus Did Not Minister Outside His Assignment: “These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” (Matthew 10:5-6)

  10. Jesus Delegated Ministries To Others: “The disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.” (John 4:8) “Jesus said, make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.” (John 6:10) “Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the Passover, that we may eat.” (Luke 22:8) There were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast: The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus. Philip cometh and telleth Andrew; and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.” (John 12:20-23)

  11. Jesus Only Did What He Saw The Father Doing: “The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things sever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.” (John 5:19)

  12. Jesus Only Said What He Heard The Father Saying: “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” (John 5:30) “I speak to the world those things which I have heard of my Father. I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. I do always those things that please Him.” (John 8:26-29) “For all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.” (John 15:15)
