BROKENNESS


 

Hebrew:   shabar meaning to be shattered

daka meaning to be bruised

Greek:     klaomai meaning to be broken

sunthlaomai meaning to be crushed together

thrauo meaning to break in pieces


 

1. Psalms 34:18 “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken(shabar) heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite(dokka=bruised) spirit. Many are the afflictions(ra=evil) of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.”

2. Isaiah 53:5 “He was bruised(daka) for our iniquities:”

3. Ezekiel 34:16 “I will bind up that which was broken(shabar).”

4. Matthew 21:44(Luke 20:18) “Whosoever shall fall on this stone(Jesus) shall be broken(sunthaomai): but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.”

5. Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to…heal the broken(to rub together as to the heart)hearted…to set at liberty them that are bruised(thrauo).”

6. Corinthians 11:24 “This is my body which was broken(klaomai)for you.”
