POSITION IN CHRIST

I.     Know Christ Is In You!

A. Not just walk an aisle, sign a card, raise a hand, repeat a prayer. 

B.  Count the cost:

1.   “Repent”

2.   “Be born again”

3.   “Deny your self”

4.   “Take up your cross”

5.   “Follow me”

6.   “Don’t look back”

7.   “Hate Mother & Father”

8.   “Eat my flesh”

9.   “Drink my blood”

10. “Narrow is the way”

11. “Few there be that find it”

C. John 1:12-13 “As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God

D. John 3:18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

E.  I John 2:3 “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.”

F.  I John 4:15 “Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.”

G. I John 5:12 “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”

H. I John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on name of the Son of God.”

 

II.  Know You Are In Christ!

A. I Corinthians 3:16 “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”

B.  II Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a newcreature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.”

C. Matthew 7:20-23By their fruits ye shall know them.  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in they name?  And in thy name have cast out demons?  And in thy name done many wonderful works?  And the will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

D. Galatians 5:22-23 “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance:”

 

III.  Know Who You Are In Christ!

A. Acts 1:4-5 “And Jesus being assembled together with them, commanded them tat they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which saith he, ye have heard of me.  For John truly baptized with water;  but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.”

B.  Acts 2:1-4 “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

C. Acts 2:16-18 “But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy;”

D. Galatians 3:27 “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”

E.  Ephesians 5:18 “Be filled with the Spirit.”

F.  Galatians 5:16Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”

G. Galatians 5:18 “But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.”

H. Galatians 5:25 “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

I.     Ephesians 4:7-8 “But unto every one of us is given grace(charis) according to the measure of gift(dorea) of Christ.  Wherefore he saith, when he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts(domata) unto men.”

J.   Ephesians 4:11-12 “And he(Christ) gave(domata) some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:”

K. Gifts of the Spirit listed in Scripture:(Ephesians 4:1-16; Romans 12:3-8; I Corinthians 12:4-31)

1.   “domata”(Equipping Gifts): apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers.

2.   “charisma”(Speaking Gifts): prophecy, teaching, exhortation, word of wisdom, word of knowledge, discerning of spirits, tongues, interpretation of tongues.

3.   “diakinian”(Service Gifts): service, giving, helps, mercy, hospitality, organization, government, rule.

4.   “phanerosis”(Manifestation Gifts) miracles, healings, faith.

L.  Romans 12:6 “Having then gifts(charisma) differing(diaphoros= different, diverse) according to the grace(charis) that is given(didomi= to give) to us.”

M. Romans 11:29 “For the gifts(charisma)and calling(klesis=calling) of God are without repentance(irrevocable).”
