Shew Bread

 

Hebrew: lechem panim meaning bread of the presence

 

1.     Exodus 25:30 “Thou shalt set upon the table shew bread before me forever.”

 

2.     Numbers 4:7 “Upon the table of shew bread they shall spread a cloth of blue, and put thereon the dishes, and the spoons, and the bowls, and covers to cover withal: and the continual bread shall be thereon...”

 

3.     I Samuel 21:6 “So the priest gave him(David)hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the shew bread, that was taken from before the Lord...”

 

4.     I Kings 7:48 “And Solomon made all the vessels that pertained unto the house of the Lord: the altar of gold and the table of gold, whereupon the shew bread...”

 

5.     II Chronicles 4:19 “And Solomon made all the vessels that were for the house of God, the golden altar also, and the tables whereon the shew bread was...”

 

6.     Matthew 12:3-4; Mark 2:25-26; Luke 6:3-4 “And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungered, and they which were with him; How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shew bread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?”

 

7.     Hebrews 9:2 “For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.  And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; and over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercy seat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.”
