oikodomeo = to build a house, to be a house builder, construct, build

Acts 7:46-50 “Who (David) found favor before God, and desired to find a tabernacle (skenoma  = an encampment, temple, body, tabernacle) for the God of Jacob.  But Solomon built (oikodemo = see definition above) him an house (oikos = dwelling, home).  Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples (naos = shrine, temple) made (cheiropoietos = manufactured, of human construction, made by or with hands) with hands; as saith the prophet, Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house (oikos = dwelling, home) will ye build (oikodomeo = See definition above) me?  saith the Lord: or what is the place (topos = spot, space, locality, location) of my rest?  Hath not my hand made (poieo = to make, cause; from prasso = to perform, a single act, execute, accomplish, deed) all these things?”

Matthew 21:42 “Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders (oikodomeo) rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?”

Mark 12:10-11 “And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders (oikodomeo) rejected is become the head of the corner: This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?”

Luke 20:17-18 “And he (Jesus) beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders (oikodomeo) rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?  Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.”

Acts 4:11 “This  is the stone which was set at naught of you builders (oikodomeo), which is become the head of the corner.”

Romans 15:20 “Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build (oikodomeo) upon another man’s foundation:”

Galatians 2:18 “For if I build (oikodomeo) again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.”

I Peter 2:5, 6 “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up (oikodomeo) a spiritual house ( pneumatikos = non-carnal, spirit, supernatural, spiritual; oikos = a dwelling, home, house), an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”

 

oikodeme = building

Mark 13:1-2 “And as he (Jesus) went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings (oikodeme) are here!  And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings (oikodeme)?  There shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”

I Corinthians 3:9 “For we are laborers together with god: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building (oikodeme).”

II Corinthians 5:1 “For we know that is our earthly house (oikia = residence, an abode, home) of this tabernacle (skenos = hut, temporary residence, tabernacle) were dissolved, we have a building (oikodeme) of God, an house (oikia = Same as above) not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”

Ephesians 2:19-22 “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household (oieios = house, household) of God; And are built upon (epoikodomeo = to build upon, to rear up, build thereon) the foundation (themelios = put down, sub-struction of a building, foundation) of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone (akrogoniaios = belonging to the extreme corner, chief corner); In whom all the building (oikodome = structure, building, architecture) fitly framed together growth unto an holy temple (naos = shrine, temple; from naio = to dwell) in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together (sunoikodomeo = to construct, to compose, build together) for an habitation (katoiketerion = a dwelling place, habitation) of God through the Spirit.”

John 2:20-21 “Then said Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building (oikodome) and wilt thou rear it up in three days?  But Jesus spake of the temple of his body”

 

anoikodomeo = to build again, rebuild

Acts 15:15-18 “And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, After this I will return, and will build (anoikodomeo) again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: that the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.  Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.”

Acts 20:32 “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build (epoikodomeo) you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.”

I Corinthians 3:10-11 “According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder (architekton = chief constructor, architect, master builder), I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth there on (epoikodomeo) But let every man take heed how he buildeth (epoikodomeo) thereupon.  For other foundation (themelios = something put down, sub-struction of a building, foundation) can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

I Corinthians 3:12-13 “Now if any man build upon this foundation     (themelios = something put down, sub-struction of a building,               foundation) gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.”

I Corinthians 3:14 “If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, (epoikodomeo = to build upon, to rear up, build thereon) he shall receive a reward.  If any man’s work shall beburned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”

I Corinthians 3:16-17 “Know ye not that ye are the temple (naos shrine, temple) of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?  If any man defile the temple (naos = shrine, temple) of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple (naos = shrine, temple) of God is holy, which temple (naos = shrine, temple) ye are.”

Jude 20 “But ye, beloved, building up (epoikodomeo = to build upon, rear up, build thereon) yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.”

technites = artificer, artisan, a founder, creator, builder, craftsman

Hebrews 11:10 “For he looked for a city which hath foundations (themelios = something put down, sub-struction of a building, foundation), whose builder (technites an artisan, founder, creator, craftsman) and maker (demiourgos = a worker, mechanic, maker) is God.”

poieo = to make, without any delay, perform, provide (From prasso = perform repeatedly, execute, accomplish)

Matthew 18:28, 17:1-9 (Mark 9:1-8) “Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.  And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, and was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.  And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.  Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make (poieo = to make, to do, without delay, execute, fulfill, perform, provide, raise up, work, deed) here three tabernacles (skene = a tent, a cloth, habitation, tabernacle); one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.  While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.  And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and          were sore afraid.  And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.  And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.  And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the son of man be risen again from the dead.”
