WHY DO BELIEVERS NOT WORK
THE WORKS OF JESUS TODAY?

The short answer is the same reason they didn’t do so in Jesus’ day…UNBELIEF!

Unbelief apistia = unbelief, distrust, faithlessness, disbelief, disbelieving, unfaithfulness, disobedience, believe not

Matthew 13:58  “And Jesus did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.”

Matthew 17:14-21 “And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic and sore vexed: for oft times he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.  And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.  Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you?  How long shall I suffer you?  Bring him hither to me.  And Jesus rebuked the demon; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.  Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?  And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder pace; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.  Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”

Mark 6:4-6 “Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honor, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.  And he could do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.  And he marveled because of their unbelief.  And he went round about the villages, teaching.  And Jesus called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;”

Mark 9:24-29 “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.  And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.  When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.  And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.  But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.  And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?  And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.”

Mark 16:12-20 “After that Jesus appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country.  And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them.  Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.  And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.  He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned (katakrino = to judge against, sentence, condemn; from root word krino = to distinguish, that is to decide judicially; by implication to try, condemn, punish, avenge, conclude, decree, determine, judge, go to law, call in question, sentence to).  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.  So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.  And they went forth, an preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.”

John 14:12-17 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the SonIf ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.  If ye love me keep my commandments.  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
