Genesis 11:1-9

 Genesis 11:1-3 “And the whole (kol kol the whole, all, every, altogether, every place) earth (‘erets  to be firm, the earth at large, world) was of one (echad united, one, altogether, together) language, (sap hah sepheth language, lip, speech, talk, words) and one (same as above) speech (danbar  word, language, message, speech).  And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, and they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.  And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick (laban to be, to make; lebenah a brick, whiteness of clay), and burn (saraph to be or set fire, on fire, cause to burn, kindle utterly) them thoroughly (gerephah cremation, burning).  And they had brick (same as above) for stone, (eben a stone) and slime (chemar slime) had they for mortar (chomer mire or clay, cement, mortar).”

Note: God builds with natural and hewn stones and man builds  with bricks!

Genesis 11:4 “And they said, Go to (hahab to give, to put, come, come on), let us build (banah to build, begin to build, set up) us a city (ryr ar ayar  encampment, city, town) and a tower (migdal migdalah a tower from its size or height), whose top (rosh height, top, chiefest place, man) may reach unto heaven (shamayim shameh to be lofty, sky, aloft,  heaven);

And let us make (asah to do or make, accomplish, advance, bring forth, work) us a name (shem conspicuous position, memorial, authority, fame, renown, name), lest (pen removal, lest, peradventure) we be scattered abroad (puts dashed to pieces, disperse, scatter abroad) upon the face (paniym the face) of the whole earth (kol kol the whole, all; ‘erets earth, land, land, world).”

Genesis 11:5 “And the Lord (Yehovah self Existent, eternal, Jehovah, Jewish national name of God, Lord) came down (yarad to descend, to go downwards, to a lower region) to see (raah to see, behold, consider, gaze, view) the city (iyr ‘ar ayar  city) and the tower (migdal migdalah a tower), which the children of men (bane a son, children, builder of the family name; Adam ruddy, human being, mankind, man) builded (banah to build, begin to build, set up).”

Genesis 11:6 “And the Lord said (Yehovah same as above; ‘amar to say), Behold (hen lo! behold), the people (‘am a people, tribe, folk) is one (‘echad united, one, alike, altogether), and they have all (kol kol the whole, all) one (‘echad united, one, alike, only) language (sap hah sepheth language, speech); and this (zeh this, selfsame) they begin to do (chalal to begin; ‘asah to do or make, accomplish): and now nothing (‘attah at this time, henceforth; lo lo loh not, no) will be restrained (batsar restrained, inaccessible) from them, (min minniy minney a part of, by reason of, among) which they (‘asher they) have imagined (zamam to plan, usually in a bad sense, consider, devise, imagine, plot, purpose, think evil) to do (‘asah to do, to make, accomplish).”

Genesis 11:7Go to (yahab come on, go to), let us go down (yarad to descend, go downwards, toa lower region), and there (sham there ) confound (balal to mix, mingle, confound ) their language (sap hah sepheth speech, language, lip), that they may not (lo’ lo’loh not) understand (shama to hear intelligently, understand) one another’s (‘rysh another, a man as an individual, another person; rea’ reya’ and associate, another) speech (sap hah sepheth same as above).”

Genesis 11:8-9So the Lord (Yehovah self Existent, eternal, Jehovah, Jewish national name of God, Lord ) scattered them abroad (puts cast abroad, disperse, scatter) from thence (min minniy minney from or out of) upon (‘al upon) the face (paniym  the face) of all (kol kol the whole, every place)  the earth (erets the earth, land, world): and they left off (chadal desist, cease, end, leave off) to build (banah to build) the city (iyr ‘ar ‘ayar  a city).  Therefore (ken therefore, hence) is the name (shem name) of it called (qara to call out, address by name) Babel (babel confusion, Babel  Babylon, including Babylonia and the Babylonian empire) because (kiy because) the Lord (Yehovah same as above) did there (sham there, then) confound (balal  to mix, confound) the language (‘sap hah ‘sepheth language, speech, words) of all (kol kol the whole, all) the earth (‘erets the earth, world): and from thence (min minniy minney from or out of) did the Lord (Yehovah same as above) scatter them abroad (puts to disperse, scatter) upon (‘al upon, over) the face (paniym  face) of all the earth (kol kol the whole, all; ‘erets earth, land, world).”

Isaiah 14:12-15How (‘eyk ‘eykah ‘eykakah how) art thou fallen (naphal to fall, thrown out, cast down) from (min miniy minney a part of, from or out of) heaven, (shamayim shameh heaven) O Lucifer, (heylel Lucifer, sense of brightness, the morning star; halal to shine, to make a show, boast self, to be foolish, to rave, sing, be worthy of praise, renown, shine) son of the morning (ben a son; shachar dawn, day-spring, early light, morning, whence riseth)! 

How art thou cut down (gada to fell a tree, to destroy, cut down) to the ground, (‘erets the earth, ground) which didst weaken (chalash weaken, discomfit, waste away, overthrow, decay) the nations  (goy goy sense of massing,  foreign nation hence a Gentile, heathen nation, people)!

For thou hast said (‘amar to say, boast self, challenge, charge, declare) in thine heart, (lebab the heart) I will ascend (‘alah ascend, mount, be high, arise up, ascend up, exalt, excel, increase, mount up) into heaven (shamayim shameh to be lofty, heaven), I will exalt (rum to be high, to rise, to raise, to exalt self, extol, haughty, mount up, offer up presumptuously, be promote, proud, tall, taller) my throne (kisse kisseh throne covered as canopied, seat, stool, throne) above  (maal upper part, upward, above, overhead, from the top, above, exceeding, very high, over) the stars (kokab blazing, star as shining, a prince) of God (‘el the Almighty, deity, God): I will sit (yashab  to sit down, to dwell, to remain, establish, inhabit, remain) also upon the mount (har a mountain, promotion) of the congregation (moed moed moadah an appointment, a fixed time or season, a festival, an assembly convened for a definite purpose, beforehand, appointed time, a place of solemn assembly), in the sides (yerekah sides, flank, part, side) of the north (tsaphon tsaphon properly hidden, that is dark, used only of the north as a quarter, gloomy and unknown, north side, northward): I will ascend (‘alah to ascend, mount, be high, arise up, ascend up, exalt, excel, increase, mount up) above (‘al above, over, upon) the heights (bamah to be high, an elevation, high place) of the clouds (‘ab darkness, density, thick cloud, moved swiftly by the wind); I will be like (damah compare, resemble, liken, compare, be like) the most High (‘elyon Most High, Supreme, lofty, an elevation).

Yet (‘ak only, surely) thou shalt be brought down (yarad to descend, to go downwards, lower region, to fall, bring down, cast down, fall down, take down) to hell, (‘el ‘el towards, near, with or among; sheol sheol hades, world of the dead, including it accessories and inmates, grave, hell, pit) to the side of (yerekah the flank, rear, part, side) the pit (bor a pit hole, used as a cistern or prison, dungeon, pit).”

Acts 2:1-11And (kai and) when the (ho he to the) day (hemera day) of Pentecost (pentekoste fiftieth from Passover, Pentecost; Feast of First Fruits ) was fully come (sumpleroo to implenish completely, to accomplish, be complete, fully come), they were (en they were, agree to be) all (hapas union, absolutely all, everyone, all things, whole) with one accord (homothumadon unanimously, with one accord, one mind; homos same; thumos passion of mind, spirit, first love, temperature, fervor, intensity, heat, pressing in, strong desire, hunger and thirst for God! And (kai  and, then) suddenly (aphno unawares, unexpectedly, suddenly) there came (phaino to lighten, shine, that is to show, appear; ginomai to cause to be, to become, come into being, brought to pass) a sound (echos a loud or confused noise, echo, that is a roar, sound) from (ek ex denoting origin, the point where motion or action proceeds, from, out of, vehemently) heaven (ouranos air, sky, heaven, as the abode of God) as of (hosper just as, exactly like, even like as) a rushing (phero carry, bear, bring forth, be driven, move, rushing) mighty (biaios violent, mighty; bia idea of vital activity, force, violence) wind (pnoe breath, wind), and it filled (pleroo to cram a net, imbue, diffuse, verify or coincide with a prediction, accomplish, complete, fill up, fulfil, make full) all (holos whole, all, compete, altogether, every whit, throughout) the (ho he to the, that, one) house (oikos dwelling, home, house) where (hou at which place, that is where, where-in) they were sitting (en they were; kathemai to sit, to sit down, remain, reside, dwell; kata down in place or time, denotes distribution or intensity; hedraios to sit, sedentary, by implication, immovable, settled, steadfast).  And (kai and) there appeared (optanomai optomai to gaze, that is with wide open eyes, as at something remarkable) unto them (autos them, themselves, together) cloven (diamerizo to partition thoroughly, literally in distribution, divide, part; merizo to part, to apportion, bestow, share, be difference between, distribute, divide, give part) tongues (glossa the tongue, by implication a language, specifically one naturally unacquired; like as hosei as if, as it were, like as; hos which how, in that manner, with all speed) of fire, (pur fire, lightning, fiery) and (te of connection or addition, both or also) it sat (kathizo to seat down, that is set, figuratively appoint, to sit down, to settle, hover, dwell, tarry) upon (epi on, upon, above) each (hekastos each, every, each one, every one; heis one, another) of them. (autos together, those, them)   

And (kai and, then, also, too) they were (hapas absolutely all, everyone, all, whole) all filled with (pletho to fill, imbue, supply, to fulfil time, accomplish, full, furnish) the Holy Spirit, (pneuma breath, super human, Spirit, God’s Spirit, Spirit of Christ, Holy Spirit,) and began  (kai and, then, moreover, begin) to speak (archomai to commence, in order of time, rehearse) with (archomai implication of precedence, to commence in order of time) other (heteros other, different) tongues, (glossa the tongue, a language, specifically one naturally unacquired) as (kathos just, inasmuch as, according to, how, when; kata beyond measure, mightily, more, distribution, intensity; hos how, in that manner, after that, as soon as)  the (ho he to the) Spirit (pneuma breath, super human, Spirit, God’s Spirit, Spirit of Christ, Holy Spirit) gave (didomi to give, bestow, bring forth, minister, have power) them (autos them) utterance (apophtheggomai to enunciate plainly, declare, say, speak forth utterance; phtheggomai to utter a clear sound, to proclaim, speak).  

And (de and, moreover, now) there were (en were) dwelling (katoikeo to house permanently, reside, dwell, inhabitant) at (en position in place, a relationship of rest in) Jerusalem (Hierousalem, Jerushalem, the capital of Palestine, Jerusalem) Jews, (udaean, belonging to Jehudah, Jew, of Juda) devout (eulabes circumspect, religiously pius, devout) men, (aner a man, individual male) out of (apo out of, from) every (pas all, every, the whole) nation (ethnos  a race, tribe, a foreign non-Jewish one, implication pagan, Gentile, heathen) under (hupo under, in, from) heaven (ouranos sky, heaven).

Now (de now) when this (taute tauten tautes this) was noised abroad, (ginomai to cause to be, to become; phone disclosure, saying, language, noise, sound, voice) the multitude (plethos largde number, throng, populace, company, multitude) came together, (sunerchomai to convene, assemble, come together) and were confounded, (sugcheo disorder, perplex, confound, confuse, stir up, uproar) because that (hoti because, that) every man (hekastos every, each, everyone) heard (akouo to hear, give audience, come to the ears, be noised, be reported, understood) them (autos them, together) speak (laleo talk, say, utter, preach) in his own (idios pertaining to self, one’s own, private, separate ) language (dialektos discourse, dialect, tongue, language). 

And (de also, moreover, now, and) they were all amazed (pas all, the whole, everyone, as many as) and marveled (existemi to stand out of wits, astounded, amazed, astonished, beside themselves; thaumazo wonder, admire), saying (lego relate in words, discourse, break silence, speak) one to another, (allelon one another; pros toward, by the side of, near) Behold (idou behold, see),  are not (eisi they are; ou no, not) all these which (pas all; houtos houtoi haute hautai these) speak (laleo to talk, utter words, preach, say, speak, utter) Galileans (Galilaios belonging to Galilea, Galilee)?  And, (kai moreover, and) how (pos how, in what way, what manner) hear (akouo to hear, understand) we (hemeis we ourselves) every (hekastos each and every) man (hemon of us, our company) in our own (idios pertaining to self, one’s own) tongue (dialektos discourse, dialect, language, tongue), wherein (en denoting fixed position or state) we were born (gennao born)?

Parthians, (Parthian inhabitant of Parthia, Parthian) and Medes, (Median inhabitant of Media, Mede) and Elamites, (Elamites an Elamite or Persian) and the dwellers (katoikeo to house permanently, reside, dwell, in habit) in Mesopotamia, (Mesopotamia lying between the Euphrates and the Trigris) and in Judea, (Ioudaia the Judean land, region of Palestine, Judaea, Juda)  and Cappadocia, (Kappadokia a region of Asia Minor, Cappadocia) in Pontus, (pontos a region of Asia Minor, Pontus) and Asia, (Asia Asia Minor, only its western shore)  Phrygia, (Phrugia a region of Asia Minor, Phrygia) and Pamphylia, (Pamphulia every tribal, that is heterogeneous, Region of Asia Minor, Pamphylia) in Egypt, (Aiguptos land of the Nile, Egypt) and in the parts of Libya (Libue a region of Africa, Libya) about Cyrene, (Kurene Cyrene, a region of Africa) and strangers (epidemeo reside in a foreign country, stranger) of Rome, (Rhomaios Roman, of Rome) Jews (Ioudaios Udaean Jews of Juda) and proselytes, (proselutos an arriver from a foreign region, convert to Judaism, proselyte) Cretes (Kres a Cretan, in habitant of Crete, a Cretian) and Arabians, (Araps Arab, native of Arabia, Arabian) we do hear (akouo to hear, come to the ears, be noised, reported, understand) them (autos them) speak (laleo talk, utter words, preach, say, tell) in our tongues (hemeteros our; glossa the tongue, language, natural unacquired) the wonderful works (megaleios magnificent, perfection, wonderful works) of God (Theos a deity, the supreme Divinity, Hebraism very, exceeding God),

Romans 15:6 “That ye may with one mind (homothumadon unanimously, with one accord, mind) and one (heis one, only) mouth (stoma mouth, language) glorify (doxazo esteem, glorify, honor, magnify) God (theos deity, supreme Divinity, Hebraism very God), even (kai even, also, therefore) the Father (pater father) of our Lord (kurios supreme in authority, God, Lord, master) Jesus (Iesous Jesus, Jehoshua) Christ (Christos anointed, the Messiah).”
