The “sons” of God

HEBREW

Genesis 6:2 “That the sons of God (ben a son; elohiym the supreme God, exceeding God, very great, mighty) saw (raah to see, look on, gaze) the daughters of men (bath a daughter; adam a human being, mankind, man) that they were fair (tob good, beautiful, fair, pleasant); and they took (laqach to take, carry away, fetch, seize) them wives (‘ishshah nashiym a woman, female, wife) of all (min minniy minney from or out of, among) which they chose (bachar select, choose).”

Genesis 6:4There were (hayah to exist, come to pass) giants (nephyl nephil a bully, tyrant, giant) in the earth (‘erets earth, land, country, world) in those days (yom a day, time); and also after that, when the sons of God (ben same as above; elohiym same as above) came in unto the daughters of men (bath a daughter; ‘adam a human being, mankind, man, person), and they bear children to them (yalad to bear young, to beget, born, be delivered of a child), the same became mighty men (gibbor gibbo powerful, warrior, tyrant, champion, giant, mighty man, strong man, valiant man) which were of old (‘olam ‘olam of old, ancient time), men of renown (‘iysh a man, an individual, male person; shem renown, fame).”
