BIBLICAL RESPONSE TO THOSE WHO HURT,
 HATEFUL TOWARD YOU

Matthew 5:43-48 (Luke 6:27-37)

Matthew 5:43 “Ye have heard (akouo to hear, reported, understood) that it hath been said (rheo utter, speak, say), Thou shalt love (agapeo unconditional love, God kind of love); love as Jesus loves, i.e. “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) (“Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34) thy neighbor (plesion close by, near you, friend), and hate (miseo to detest, love less, hate, hateful, persecute) thine enemy (echthros hostile, adversary, foe, enemy).”

Matthew 5:44 “But I say unto you, Love (agapao God kind of love, love as God loves, unconditional, ) your enemies (eththros hateful, adversary, hostile, foe), bless (euthros speak well of, bless, praise) them that curse (kataraomai doom, curse, abuse, hurt) you, do good (poieo to make, commit, without delay, observe, purpose; kalos well, good) to them that hate you (miseo detest , persecute, hateful), and pray for (pruseuchomai pray to God, supplicate, earnestly for, worship) them which despitefully use (epereazo threaten, insult, slander, falsely accuse) you, and persecute (dioko pursue, follow after) you;”

Matthew 5:45 “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.”

Matthew 5:46 “For if ye love them (agapao God kind of love,

unconditional, love as God loves) which love you (agapao same as above), what reward have ye?  Do not even the publicans the same?”

Matthew 5:47 “And if you salute (aspazomai enfold in the arms, embrace, welcome) your brethren (adelphos of the same womb, brother) only, what do ye more than others?  Do not even the publicans (telones tax collectors) so?”

Matthew 5:48Be ye therefore perfect (teleios full age, mature in and complete in Christ), even as your Father (pater father, parent) which is in heaven (ouranos abode of God, heaven) is perfect (same as above).”
