PAUL’S HIRED HOUSE IN ROME

 

Acts 18:16, 30-31

V16 “And when we came to Rome (Rhoma capitol of Roman Empire), the centurion (hekatontarchos caption of 100 men) delivered (paradidomi to yield up, entrust, deliver over) the prisoners (desmios captives, in bonds, prisoner) to the captian of the guard (stratopedarches ruler of an army, captain): but Paul (Paulos little; an apostle) was suffered (epitreto to allow, transfer, give leave, liberty, permit) to dwell (meno to stay, abide, dwell, remain) by himself (heartou alone) with a soldier (stratiotes warrior, soldier) that kept him (phulasso keep, be on guard, isolation, to watch).”

 

V30 “And Paul (Paulos little; an apostle) dwelt (meno to stay, abide, dwell, remain) two whole years (dietia two years; holos altogether, whole, all) in his own (idios one’s own, private) hired house (misthoma rented quarters, building), and received (apodechomai to take fully, welcome, receive, gladly) all (all, any, every, as many as, whosoever) that came in (eisporeuomai to enter, come in, go into) unto him (pros toward, near to).

 

V31 Preaching (kerusso to herald, public crier, proclaim publish, divine truth of the Gospel) the Kingdom of God (basileia rule, realm, kingdom reign), and teaching (didasko to instruct) those things (ho he that, those) which concern (peri about) the Lord (kurios Supreme authority, controller, Master) Jesus (Iesous, Jehoshua, Jesus) Christ (Christos anointed, Messiah, Christ); with all (pas the whole, thoroughly, all) confidence (parthesia frankness, bluntness, assurance, openly, plainly), no man forbidding him (akolutos unhindered, freely).”
