WHEN THE CHURCH ASSEMBLED
IN ONE PLACE
- Matthew 18:17-19 “And if he shall neglect to hear(parakouo=to hear amiss,
disregard) them(witnesses), tell it unto the church(ekklesia=the
called out ones): but if he neglect to hear the church(ekklesia=the
called out ones), let him be unto thee as an heathen man(ethnikos=belonging
to the nations) and a publican(telones=tax collector, public
official). Verily I say unto
you, Whatsoever ye shall bind(deo=fasten) on earth shall be bound(deo=fasten)
in heaven(ouranos=heaven, sky, air): and whatsoever ye shall loose(luo=to
loose) on earth shall be loosed(luo=to loose) in heaven(ouranos).
Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree(sumphoneo=to
sound or speak together) on earth(ge=earth, land) as touching
anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father(pater)
which is in heaven(ouranos).”
- Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three are gathered together(sunago=to
lead together) in my name(onoma=name), there am I in the midst(mesoo=middle)
of them.”
- John 20:19-23 Then the same day(ekeinos=that very day of Jesus’
resurrection) at evening(ouses opsias=it being late), being the first
day(mia=one) of the week(from Sabbath to Sabbath), when the doors(thura=doors)
were shut(kleio=shut) where the disciples (mathetes =taught or
trained one) were assembled (sunago=to bring or lead together) for fear(phobos=terror)
of the Jews, came Jesus and stood(histemi=to set, place) in the midst(mesoo=middle),
and saith unto them, Peace (eirene =unity, concord) be unto you.
And when he had so said, he shewed (deikenuo=to show) unto
them his hands(cheir=hand and arms) and his side(plura=ribs).
Then were the disciples(mathetes=taught or trained one) glad(chairo=rejoice,
be of good cheer), when they saw(eidon=to know, be acquainted) the Lord(kurios=master).
Then Jesus said to them again, Peace(eirene=unity, concord) be
unto you: as my Father hath sent(apostello=to send away) me, even so send
I you(pempo=to send). And
when he had said this, he breathed on them (emphusao=to breathe
into), and saith unto them, Receive(lambano=to take, receive) ye the
Holy Ghost: Whose soever sins(hamartia=error,
sin) ye remit(aphiemi=to send away), they are remitted(aphiemi=to
send away) unto them; and whose soever sins(hamartia) ye retain(karateo=to
lay fast hold of), they are retained(karateo=to lay fast hold of.”
- Acts 1:4 “Jesus being assembled together with them(sunalizomai=to
throng together; according to I Corinthians 15:6 “ above 500 were
present”), commanded(paraggello=to announce along side) them that
they should not depart(chorizo=to put apart) from Jerusalem, but wait(perimeno=to
remain around) for the promise(epaggelia=a promise) of the Father(pater),
which, saith he, ye have heard(akouo=to give ear, hearken) of me(Luke
24:49).
- Acts 1:6 “When they therefore were come together(to auto=together,
upon or about the same), they asked of him saying, Lord wilt thou at this
time(chromos=time) restore again(apokatastaseos=to place down again)
the kingdom(basileia=kingdom) to Israel?”
- Acts 1:14 “And they all(pas=every) continued(proskartereite=persevere
toward, to be devoted to, constant) with one accord(homothumadon=like-minded)
in prayer(proseuche=pouring out) and supplication(desis=petition),
with the women(gune=woman), and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with
his (adelphoi=brothers).”
- Acts 1:15 “And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples,
and said, the number(ochlos=crowd) of names(onoma=name)
together (to auto=together, upon or about the same) were about(hos=as,
so as) an hundred and twenty.”
- Acts 2:1 “And when the day of Pentecost(Feast on fiftieth day after
Passover) was fully come, they were all with one accord (homothumadon
= like minded) in one place(topos=place).”
- Acts 2:44 “And all that believed were together(to auto=together, upon
or about the same), and had all things common(koinos=common).”
- Acts 2:46 “And they(3,120+), continuing(persevere toward)
daily(each day, according to the day) with one accord(homothumadon=like-minded)
in the temple(hieron=sacred, priestly edifice), and breaking (klasis=breaking
as in Luke 24:35)) bread (artos=loaf) from house to house(oikon),
did eat their meat(trophe=nourishment) with gladness (agalliasis=much
leaping) and singleness( aphelotes=free from duplicity) of heart(kardia),
praising(aineo=to praise) God, and having favor(charis=grace)
with all(holos=the whole) the people(laos).
And theLord(kurios=master) added to(prostithemi=to put
to or forward) the church(ekklesia) daily(each day, according
to the day) such as should be saved(sozo=to make or keep sound or
safe).”
- Acts 4:23, 31-32 “And being let go(erchomai=to go on), they(Peter &
John)went to their own company(idios=one’s own), and reported
(apaggello=to tell off or away) all that the chief priests and elders
had said unto them. And when
they had prayed(deomai=to want, beseech), the place(topos=place)
was shaken(saleuo=toss, agitated) where they were assembled
together(sunago=to bring or lead together); and they were all
filled(pletho=to fill, make full) with the Holy Ghost, and they spake (laleo=to
talk, speak, tell) the word of God(logos theos) with boldness (parrhesia=free
utterance). And the multitude
of them(plethos=fullness, multitude) that believed(pisteuo=to
adhere to, trust, rely on) were of one heart(mia=one, kardia=heart)
and of one soul (mia= one, psuche=animal soul):”
- Acts 5:12 “And by the hands of the apostles(apostolos=one sent forth)
were many signs(semeion=mark, signal) and wonders(teras=wonder)
wrought(ginomai=to become) among the people; and they were all(hapas=all
together) with one accord(homothumadon=like-minded) in Solomon’s
porch(stoa=a standing place).”
- Acts 5:42 “Daily(pasan hermeran=every day) in the temple(hieron=sacred,
priestly edifice) and in every house(oikon=from house to house), they
ceased not(pauomai=to pause) to teach(didasko=to teach) and preach(euagg.=to
tell good news or tidings) Jesus Christ(Savior/Anointed).”
- Acts 6:2, 5 “Then the twelve(dodeka=two & ten) called(proskaleo=to
call toward) the multitude(plethos=fulness) of the disciples(mathetes=taught
or trained one) unto them, and said, It is not reason(arestos=agreeable,
pleasing) that we should leave(egkataleipseis=to leave down, behind,
abandon) the word(logos) of God(theos), and serve(diakoneo=to
wait on, minister to) tables(trapeza=table with four feet).
The saying (logos=word about choosing the seven men) pleased(aresko=to
please) the whole(pas=all, every, the whole) multitude(plethos=fulness,
multitude).”
- Acts 11:22 “Then tidings(logos=word) of these things(that Grecians had
believed) came unto the ears(ous=ear) of the church(ekklesia=called
out ones) which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth(exapostello=to
send away out) Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.”
- Acts 11:26 “And when Barnabas found(heurisko=to find) Saul, he brought
(ago=to lead on) him unto Antioch. And
it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves (sunago=to
go or lead together) with the church(ekklesia), and taught(didasko=to
teach) much (hikanos = sufficient) people(ochlos=crowd).
And the disciples(mathetes=taught, trained ones) were called Christians(belonging
to Christ) first(proton=first) in Antioch.”
- Acts 12:12 “And when Peter considered(suneidon=to see or perceive with
self) the thing(Angel delivered him), he came to the house(oika=house)
of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many(hikanos=sufficient)
were gathered together(sunerchontai=assembled together, to crowd) praying(proseuchomai=to
pray or wish for).”
- Acts 14:27 “And when they(Paul & Barnabas)were come, and had gathered(sunago=to
lead together)the church(ekklesia) together(to auto=together,
upon or about the same), they rehearsed(anaggello=to tell back or
again) all that God(theos) had done with them, and how he had opened(anoigo=to
open up or again) the door(thura=door) of faith(pistis=faith)
unto the Gentiles(ethnos=nation). And
there they abode(dia-triba=to rub away, spend) long(ouk oligon=not
a little)time(chronos=time) with the disciples(mathetes=taught
or trained ones).”
- Acts 15:3-4 “And Paul and Silas being brought on their way(propempo=to
send forward) by the church(ekklesia), they passed through
Phenice and Samaria, declaring(anaggello=to tell again) the conversion(epistrophe=a
turning around) of the Gentiles(ethnos=nations), and they caused great
joy(megas=great; chara=joy unto all the brethren(adelphoi=brothers).
And when they(Paul & Barnabas) were come to Jerusalem, they were received(apodechomai=to
welcome) of the church(ekklesia), and the apostles(apostolos=one
sent forth) and elders(presbuteros=aged person), and they declared(anaggello=to
tell again) all things that God(theos) had done with them.”
- Acts 15:22 “Then please it the apostles(apostolos=one sent forth) and elders(presbuteros=aged
persons), with the whole(holos=all, entire) church(ekklesia),
to send chosen(eklegomai=to lay out for oneself) men of their own
company(idios=one’s own) to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely,
Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men(hegeomai=to lead, go
before) among the brethren(adelphoi=brothers):”
- Acts 15:25 “It seemed good unto us, being assembled(ginoamai=to
become, be)with one accord(homothumadon=like-minded), to send chosen(eklegomai=to
lay out for oneself) men unto you with our beloved(agapetos=dearly
loved) Barnabas and Paul.”
- Acts 18:22 “And when Paul had landed at Caesarea(Acts 21:8
“Location of Philip’s home, the evangelist with four virgin daughters
who did prophesy), and gone up, and saluted(embrace, draw together)
the church(ekklesia=called out ones), he went down to Antioch.”
- Acts 20:7-11 “We came(erchomai=to come) unto them to Troas where we abode(dia-tribo=to
rub away, spend) seven days. And
upon the first day(mia=one of the week(Sabbath to Sabbath), when
the disciples(mathetes=taught or trained one) came together(sunago=to
come together) to(purpose of) break(klao=to break) bread(artos=loaf,
same as Luke 24:30 & Acts 2;42), Paul preached(dialegomai=dialogue)unto
them, ready(mello=to be about to) to depart(exercho=to go out,
forth) on the morrow(epaurion=the morrow); and continued(parateino=to
extend on, stretch lengthwise) his speech(logos=words) until midnight(mechri
mesonuktiou=midnight). And
there were many lights(lampades hikanai=many lamps) in the upper
chamber(huperoon= upper room as in Acts 1:13), where they were gathered
together(sunago.=to lead together).
And there sat(kathemai=to sit down) in a window(thuris=little
door or window) a certain young man(pais=a child, boy, servant) named
Eutychus, being fallen into(kataphero=to bear down) a deep(bathus=deep)
sleep(hupnos=sleep): and as Paul was long(epi pleion=more,
additional) preaching (dialegomai= dialogue), he sunk down(kataphero=to
bear down) with sleep(hupnos=sleep), and fell down(pipto=to
fall; kato=downward) from the third loft(tristegon=third story of a
building), and was taken up(airo=to lift up) dead(nekros=dead).
And Paul went down, and fell on(epepesen autoi=to fall on as
Elijah in I Kings 17:21 and Elisha in II Kings 4:34) him, and embracing
him(sumperi=to take round about) said, Trouble not yourselves(thorubeomai=to
be disturbed); for his life(psuche=animal life, breath) is in him.
When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread(klao=to
break;artos=loaf), and eaten (geuomai=to taste, meal), and talked(homileo=to
converse with) a long while(hikanos=out of sufficiency), even till
break of day(auge=dawn), so he departed(exercho=to go
out or forth). And they brought(ago=to
lead on) the young man(pais=a child, boy, servant) alive(zao=to
live), and were not a little comforted(parakaleo=to call near,
exhort.”
- Romans 16:23 “Gaius mine host(xenos=stranger, host), and of the whole
(holos=all, entire) church(ekklesia=called out ones), saluteth(embrace,
draw together) you.”
- I Corinthians 11:17, 18 “Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye
come together(sunerchomai=to come together, to auto=upon or about the
same) not for the better, but for the worse. For first of all, when ye come(sunerchomai=to
come together) together(to auto=upon or about the same) in the
church (ekklesia =called out ones), I hear that there be divisions(schisma=a
rent, cleft, schism) among you; and I partly believe it.”
- I Corinthians 11:33-34 “Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together(sunerchomai=to
come together)to eat, tarry one for another. And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; tht ye come
not together(sunerchomai) unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come."
- I Corinthians 14:23 “If therefore the whole(holos=all, entire) church (ekklesia=called
out ones) be come together into one place(sunerchomai=to come
together; to auto=upon or about the same), and all(pas=every, all,
any) speak(laleo=to talk, tell) with tongues(glossa=languages),
and there come in those that are unlearned(idiotes=a private person),
or unbelievers (apistos=disbelieving, disobedient), will they not say
that ye are mad(mainomai=raving, mad, furious)?”
- I Corinthians 14:26 “How is it then, brethren? When
ye come together (sunerchomai), every one of you hath a psalm, hath a
doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation.
Let all things be done unto edifying."
- Hebrews 10:25 “Not forsaking(egkataleipo=to leave down in) the assembling
ourselves together)(episunagoge=gathering together), as the manner(ethos=custom,
habit) of some is; but exhorting(parakaleo=to call near or for) one
another(allelon=each other): and so much the more, as ye see(blepo=to

draw near).”
- Hebrews 12:23-24 “To the general assembly(paneguris=a whole assembly) and church(ekklesia=the
called out ones) of the firstborn(prototokos=first born), which are written(apographo=to
write off, enroll) in heaven(ouranos=sky, air), and to God(theos)
the Judge(krites=critic)of all(pas=any, every), and to the spirits(pneuma=spirit)
of just men(dikaios=righteous) made perfect(teleioo=to end,
complete), and to Jesus the mediator(mesites=middle man) of the new
(kainos=fresh, recent, newly made)covenant(diatheke=arrangement), and
to the blood(haima=blood) of sprinkling(proschusis=a pouring

more powerful) than that of Abel.”
